For the investiture of Brenda Gourley, former Vice-Chancellor and President of the Open University, as a doctor honoris causa. She currently chairs The Talloires Network Steering Committee and is a non-executive director of Sage Publishers in the UK. She has also chaired the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Professor Gourley's interests include Higher Education strategy and trends (including the impact of technology), the world of open and distance education, open educational resources, leadership, ethics and the role of universities in their communities.

Interview with Brenda Gourley, Vice-Chancellor of the Open University

An interview with Brenda Gourley at the end of April 2007 as Vice-Chancellor of the Open University, who visited the UOC in order to sign a collaboration agreement and to talk of new joint projects.


UOC. Honoris causa

The investiture ceremony to confer Brenda Gourley with an honorary doctorate is to take place on 17 February 2011. The website will have a short video of events, transcripts of the speeches, etc. It also has information on the previous honorary doctorates awarded by the UOC.


The Open University

The UK-based Open University, for which Gourley was Vice Chancellor and CEO from 2002 to 2009, has pioneered and popularised distance learning throughout the world.
