Changes to the marking system

In order to complete the process of adaptation of the final numerical marking system to the current regulatory framework, and to provide greater flexibility for the models to ensure they better reflect the learning process in each subject, as of this semester the UOC is to introduce certain changes to the marking system for degrees, university master’s degrees and UOC-specific courses.

The new marking system for degrees, university master’s degrees and UOC-specific courses is to include the following new features:

  • Continuous assessment and test marking will continue to use the current system, which forms part of the UOC’s learning model, but the final mark for the continuous assessment will be converted into a number.
  • The final assessment test will be given a numerical mark, between 0 and 10, with the possibility of use of a decimal.
  • Cross-referencing two numerical marks (from the continuous assessment and the final test) will be carried out using percentage weighting formulas, which can be found in the course plans in the subject classrooms.
  • The final numerical marks will appear in student’s files, alongside the corresponding qualitative marks.
  • In assessment models with validation tests, the final subject mark will be the final numerical mark obtained from the continuous assessment (provided the validation test has been validated).

These changes to the marking system are only to be applied to degree, university master’s degree and postgraduate courses. The marking system for pre-EHEA degrees, foundation degrees and diplomas will remain the same.
