Five UOC students participate in the 7th University Debate

Josep Casado, Marta Zaragoza, Sílvia Majó, Marta Carreras and Oriol Sagrera were chosen to represent the UOC in the 7th University Debate League held from 23 to 25 March at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona.

“Are leadership and entrepreneurship mainly male qualities?” was the topic that participants were confronted with in the latest edition of the debate.

What is the University Debate League?

The University Debate League is a competition in which, during one week, different teams of university students debate on a controversial and current topic. Teams represent their universities and must be made up of no more than five individuals –two speakers, two documentalists, and one reserve– in addition to a captain.

Some months before the beginning of the League the debate topic is made public. During the competition, teams are unaware of which position they have to defend (in favour or opposed to) until only a few minutes before each debate begins. A panel of judges decides which side argued their case with the greatest rigour and as convincingly as possible, in accordance with the criteria set out in the ground rules of the competition.
